French Onion Soup

The soup is classic style.


  • Onion 4 pcs
  • Butter 20g
  • Oil 2 tbsps
  • Plain Flour 1 tbsp
  • Beef Broth 1 lit
  • Baguette 1/2 pc
  • Cheese(grated) 100g
  • Salt some
  • Black Pepper(grated) some


Step 1

Shred the onion thinly. Melt the butter in a saucepan with oil, add the onion and a little salt to flavour. Saute the onion until it is very tender over gentle heat(keep stirring freuently). Continue to cook the onion until lightly caramelized. Stir in the plain flour, and cook for 2 minutes.

Step 2

Add the beef broth, bring to the boil and then simmer for 30 mintues. Season with a some black pepper.

Step 3

Meanwhile, slice the baguette thickly and toast them slightly in the oven.

Step 4

Spoon the soup into 4 individual bowls, top with the lightly toasted bread. Sprinkle a lot of grated cheese on top.

Step 5

Melt and brown the cheese under the grill. Serve.
